How To Export Your WhatsApp Chats

With 1.6 billion users, WhatsApp is the second most popular social media app after Facebook. Acquired by Facebook in 2014, it has many features ranging from voice and video calls, conference calls, data backup, location and document sharing and many more.

New features are frequently being added with new updates, one them is the self-destructing message feature where a message is set to disappear after a certain period. Most of us don’t even know some of these features and rely only on sending messages and updating our statuses.

I will show you how to export your WhatsApp chat either from a group chat or from individual chats to your email, share to WhatsApp, or even save it as a pdf file or any other thing.

How To Export Your WhatsApp Chats (step by step)

1. Open The App on your phone

Open the app from your phone

2. Click to open the chat your want to export

Click on the chat weather group or personal chat to open it.

Once you click on the icon, a drop down menu will appear showing different options including “more” option.

When you click on “More” option, another drop down menu will appear showing different options as well. Among the new options is “Export chat” option.

From the image above, the next option to click on is “Export Chat”. This action will bring a small screen with two options asking you if you want to export with or without media.

Of course you can see the warning ⚠ there that “including media will increase the size of the chat export”. This is your choice to make depending on your preference. Click any of the options to initialize the export.

The initializing begins and may take few seconds to few minutes depending on the size of your chat. After the initialization, it will automatically bring options to share/export the chat. You can choose to export through email, whatsApp or whatever you want.

This last step will allow you to share or send your chat to your desired destination.
